Pred razpadom YU smo imeli dobre stike z Zagrebom (prof. Turk), saj se predvsem ukvarjamo z racunalnisko grafiko in vsem, kar pac gre zraven.
Lep pozdrav iz Maribora. Borut ZALIK.

Sniper: Dear Borut, a lot of compliments for Cafe Balkan. It's a great source for people, like us, deeply involved in Balkan music & culture. We are Sniper, an Italian - Bosnian band playing balkan music in western flavours. We have just released our first self-producted indipendently-distributed CD entitled "The man from Bijeljina" that tells the story of a young accordionist from Bosnia.
The songs are: - Jovano, Jovanke (Mcedonia) - Kustino Oro (ex Yugoslavia) - Makedonsko devoijce (Mcedonia) - Voda (Mcedonia) - Garsona (Greeece) - Dimitroula (Greeece) - Gori Sarajevo (our not-so-politically-correct song about the Sarajevo siege) - Odessa Bulgar #2 (klezmer) - Di sapozkhelach (Yiddish blues)
If you'll like please insert in your balkan bands section a link to our home page: http://www.ronchiato.it/~fncs/Sniper_home.html we have no recording contracts or promotion and we sell our CD only at the concerts or by mail, so you can really help us to promote our balkan music. In any case, thank you.

Hello: Hi-- I came across your page and couldn't resist saying hello to someone with my own last name! I know it's not that unusual back home, but it's quite rare here in Cleveland (Ohio). I have to write this in English because, sad to say, my serbo-croatian isn't what it used to be--even though I was born there.
Thanks for the cool site. Elvira Maricic

Regards from New Zealand. Srdacno Vas, Toni Lovric

Surprises in your guest book: Hello from the United States, Indianapolis, Indiana. Borut, the reason I am writing to you is simply that you made me very curious with your home page. The more exact explanation is as follows:
My son is a concert violinist, traveling the world all over. Right now he's giving concerts in Spoleto, Italy. I am a structural engineer spending a lot of time on the computer. Today I was surfing the Internet after office was over and I searched with 'Yahoo!' if there were any new entries about my son. After typing in our last name "CEROVSEK" I got to your home page as one of the hits. What has my son to do with Borut Maricic? This question intrigued me very much. When I opened your guest book I found the following entry:
Pozdrav Milan Cerovsek
I do not speak this language. There is nobody I know of in all of the United States with THAT last name. Everything became even funnier when I was reading your e-mail address. Apparently you are living now in Austria, the country I was born in many years ago before emigrating first to Canada, then to the U.S.
Even more ironic it was when I read the names of Graz and Leoben. Graz was where I used to live and study for many years, where I met my wife, etc. Leoben was where my grandfather used to work and where my son will give a concert later this summer. ( I don't know the exact date by memory ).
To keep this e-mail reasonably short, I just want to tell you that it was a great pleasure to find somebody who right now makes a living in my 'fatherland'. It would be equally interesting to find out what Milan Cerovsek was writing about ( in English or in German ), and if there is any way to make contact with this person, wherever he may be living.
Please send me a short answer, if you can. If German comes easier to you then use that. Sincerely, Helmut Cerovsek. Pozdrav Helmut

Pozdrav iz Kanade! Cao! (izaberi sto ti pase!) i politicki neutralni! Zivot je prekratak, a mi smo protracili 5-6 godina.
Pozdravljam te, Dada

What about covering Bosnia? I don't read it, so I don't know, but what about Svijet, Oslobodjenje. Does it exist still? Zlatko Dizdarevic was an interesting person.

Cao! I´m happy that I found your pages just by accident. It offered me lots of information & fun. But what I need is latest maps and all kind of information how to travel in Balkan., `cause I´m planning to do it this summer. Love, peace & rock´n´roll!

Guest Book: Dear Borut, Thanks so much for including the interview with Rade Serbedzija in your pages. I saw him in the Saint and was very, very impressed but, unfortunately, information on him is hard to find in this country (USA). If you have any more information and feel like posting it, I would really enjoy it and I'm sure many others would also.
Thank you again, Eileen Kelly

Cafe Balkan: Hi, I haven't come for a while and feel sorry about it, with all the changes you brought in the site. Good work, but I would certainly enjoy much more if I could read south slavic. I hope your work helps people from former YU meet and discuss, as a small step towards pacification. I am still looking for a french or english version of Andric's "signposts along the road", from which you quoted a passage. I have now included your site in my "favourites" list and should come back more often. Keep it up! Gary O'Brien from Hull Canada

I nisam jos uvijek krenula natrag i vjerojatno necu skoro. Keep up the good work!! Jugana Milosevic

Quite a well done page. The layout and content really shine. I am curious as to how Austria relates to the Balkans. Are you part of, or just next to? With current events as they are, I have gained quite a lot of respect and admiration for the Balkans. Hope to make use of that chat area. Talk to you soon.

[Borut's reply: Austria is just next to the Balkans. It is a country I live in for the last five and a half years.]

New Tamburitza Music Website: Enjoyed browsing Cafe Balkan. Excellent use of frames. The pages loaded especially fast for a Website in Europe (I'm located in Pittsburgh in the USA.). I have recently set up a Website entitled: The Tamburitza and Balkan Folk Music. The URL is: http://www4.pgh.net/~jdv/tamb/index.htm. Would it be possible for you to create a link to this URL from the Culture/Music area of Cafe Balkan? I will link to Cafe Balkan from the Balkan information page at my site. Thanks John Valentich

Greeting: Human mind is designed tu be creative but not destructive. It is a vague reflection of a divine cosmic harmony. Thats why every human being should be considered as universe itself.
P.S. I apreciate your ideas very much! All the best! Mladin Milivojevic
